On Friday, 07/28/2017, at approximately 11:50 P.M. Multnomah County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to the report of a person shot near the 400 block of SE 5th street in Troutdale.
MCSO deputies arrived on scene, immediately identified the victim and were able to get them to an ambulance for transport to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Deputies began searching for the suspect along with officers from Gresham and Fairview Police Departments, and eventually called in additional resources from the Portland Police Special Emergency Response Team. Sheriff Mike Reese was also on scene and assisted with this call for service.
During a search of the area, which lasted approx. 5 hours, an MCSO patrol deputy spotted the suspect near the corner of Columbia River Highway and 257th Ave. Deputies took the suspect into custody without further incident.
The suspect has been identified as 44 year old Jerod Sutton of Troutdale, Oregon. Sutton will be interviewed by detectives and lodged at the Multnomah County Detention Center. Attached is a 2015 booking photo of Sutton.
Detectives from the Major Crimes Team, which is comprised of members of the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office and the Gresham Police Department, are on scene and are continuing to investigate.
MCSO would like to thank the Portland Police Bureau, Gresham Police Department, and the Fairview Police Department for their assistance in this case.
There is no danger to the public.
