Earlier this week, a major water leak at the Justice Center Building caused water to enter the elevator shaft that supports inmate visitation at the Multnomah County Detention Center (MCDC). Maintenance crews were unable to repair the electrical boards that control the elevator, and it will not be operational for several more days.
As a result, all inmate visitation, both professional and personal will be canceled for Saturday 09/09/17 and Sunday 09/10/17. Staff will be working on alternative solutions for conducting professional visits on 09/11/17.
Inmates who are in housing units where video visitation is currently available will still be able to receive kiosk visits during this closure. For more information on how to sign up for video visitation, please visit https://www.mcso.us/site/pdf/visitor_guide.pdf .
Inmate visitation at the Multnomah County Inverness Jail will not be affected by this closure.
