On July 25, 2019, an adult in custody at the Multnomah County Inverness Jail experienced a medical emergency, which resulted in an in-custody death.
At 5:45pm, emergency medical assistance was requested for an adult in custody experiencing a medical emergency. Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office Deputies, Corrections Health staff, American Medical Response (AMR), and Portland Fire and Rescue responded to render aid. AMR transported the individual to a local hospital.
Despite life-saving efforts, the adult in custody was pronounced deceased at the hospital. As is standard practice, MCSO Detectives and the Multnomah County Medical Examiner are conducting a thorough death investigation.
This is an active investigation and no further details are available. The deceased’s name will not be released at this time, pending family notification.
