On 10/08/2016 at approximately 7:45 a.m. Multnomah County Corrections Deputies conducting a routine security check found an unresponsive inmate inside a cell. Onsite medical staff responded along with personnel from American Medical Response. Emergency medical technicians pronounced the inmate deceased at the scene.
As is matter of routine practice, Multnomah County Sheriff's Office detectives have responded and are conducting a full investigation. Sheriff Michael Reese and Corrections Division Chief Deputy Shults also responded to the facility along with the Corrections Health Director. Preliminary investigation indicates no signs of foul play are involved. The facility resumed routine operations at 10:30 a.m.
The body has been turned over to the Multnomah County Medical Examiner's Office. No further details are available at this time pending family notification.
