On 12/03/2016 shortly after 12:00 pm, Multnomah County Deputies were called to assist an injured hiker who had fallen down an embankment near the John B. Yeon Trailhead in the Columbia River Gorge, while hiking with friends.

At approximately 12:45 pm a team from the MCSO Trail Hornets set out on the trail and was able to reach the hiker, a 66 year old female who had fallen nearly 100 feet down a steep embankment. Crews from the American Medical Response Reach and Treat Unit along with Corbett Fire Department assisted with medical care of the injured hiker on scene.

Search and rescue teams from MCSO and Pacific NW Search and Rescue joined in the rescue effort later in the afternoon. At approximately 7:00 pm a National Guard helicopter was able to perform a hoist rescue of the injured hiker and flew her to a local hospital for further treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
