Original press release posted on 4/12/22:

Two suspects are in custody after an armed robbery in Troutdale. One female suspect was not located following an extensive, hours-long search in Northeast Portland.

On Tuesday, April 12, 2022, around 4 p.m., Multnomah County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a robbery at a retail store in the Troutdale outlet mall. As deputies responded, they learned the suspects pointed a firearm at security personnel. Deputies located the suspect vehicle, a tan Mercedes sedan. The suspect vehicle did not stop for deputies.

As the vehicle was traveling westbound on I-84, a sheriff’s deputy successfully deployed spike strips, deflating at least one tire. The suspect vehicle exited the freeway and turned north onto NE 238th Drive.

While traveling westbound on NE Sandy Blvd., shots were fired from the suspect vehicle in the direction of the pursuing deputies. The gunfire struck at least one patrol vehicle, (read about the circumstances in our tweet). Despite being shot at, deputies did not return gunfire.

On NE Sandy Blvd., just west of NE 162nd Avenue, the suspect vehicle collided with another motorist. Deputies took two suspects into custody without incident. A third suspect, an adult female, ran into a wooded area. The suspect was described as a white female, who was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and grey pants.

Officers from the Gresham Police Department and Portland Police Bureau responded to assist in the search. However, after an extensive, hours-long search of the area, the female suspect was not located. If you have any information related to her whereabouts, call the non-emergency line at 503-823-3333. During the search, NE Sandy Blvd. was closed between NE 158th and NE 165th Avenues.

At the scene, deputies recovered a firearm near the suspect’s vehicle.

One suspect was transported to the hospital for a medical evaluation. Both suspects who were apprehended will be identified at a later point in the investigation.

The motorist was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.

The East County Major Crimes Team is performing the criminal investigation. The Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office would like to acknowledge the Gresham Police Department, Portland Police Bureau and EMS personnel who responded to this event.
