January 23, 2017 at 1:30 pm, the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office will hold a new hire and promotional ceremony in the Board Room at the Multnomah Building, 501 SE Hawthorne. During this ceremony, Sheriff Michael Reese will introduce eight new members of the agency, who will serve in a variety of different positions within the Sheriff's Office.
In addition, Sheriff Reese will promote one of the largest group of supervisors ever to be sworn in on one day in the history of the agency. In total, fifteen (15) members of the agency will be promoted including ten (10) sergeants and five (5) lieutenants. These promotions will include;
Sergeant Kyle Smith -- He has been with MCSO in 2003, and has worked patrol, training and detectives throughout his time in the agency.
Sergeant Brent Laizure -- Has worked with the agency since 2005, starting as a Civil Deputy, promoting to Deputy Sheriff in 2008. Sgt. Laizure has worked a variety of assignments and is currently on part of the MCSO motor patrol.
Sergeant Matt Jordan -- Was hired by the Troutdale Police Department in 2008, and was selected as Police Officer of the Year in 2009.
Sergeant Rian Hakala -- Was hired as a Corrections Deputy in 2005, and promoted to Deputy Sheriff in 2008. He has worked as part of the Tri-met Police and most recently was assigned as a Detective.
Sergeant Norma Gaines -- Has worked as a Corrections Deputy since 1992, has worked in booking and release, and is a member of the MCSO Honor Guard.
Sergeant Alice Blair -- Began working with MCSO in 2008, and has worked a variety of different assignments in the Corrections Division. Her most recent assignment was in the Court Services Unit.
Sergeant Christopher Willoughby -- Was hired with the agency in 2013 and has worked at both the Detention Center and Inverness Jails.
Sergeant Josh Britton -- Has worked with MCSO in the Corrections Division since 2011. He was most recently assigned to the Court Services Unit.
Sergeant William Taylor -- Began working with MCSO in 1998, and has served in a variety of facilities and assignments in the Corrections Division. Sgt. Taylor is also a part of MCSO's Honor Guard.
Sergeant Amie Banta -- Has been with MCSO since 2000, and has worked at all Corrections Division facilities.
Lieutenant Marc Shrake -- Began working with Troutdale Police in 1991, and promoted to Sergeant in 1998. He was the recipient of the Chief's Award of Distinction in 2007, and the Medal of Valor in 2003.
Lieutenant James Eriksen -- Has been with MCSO since 2003, and was promoted to Sergeant in 2011. Assignments include Tri-met Police, River Patrol Unit, Search and Rescue Coordinator, and Detectives.
Lieutenant Brian Parks -- Was hired in 2000 and was promoted to Sergeant in 2014. He has worked a variety of assignments in the Corrections Division including the Transport Unit and Corrections Emergency Response Team.
Lieutenant Curtis Sanders -- Began with MCSO in 2005 and was promoted to Sergeant in 2014. Assignments include the Transport Unit and Corrections Emergency Response Team.
Lieutenant Chris Monahan -- Began his career with MCSO in 2000 and was promoted to Sergeant in 2014. Assignments include both facilities in the Corrections Division, and he received a Life Saving Award in 2014.
