On 03-15-17 at 0952 hours, Multnomah County Parole and Probation Officers requested cover from Gresham PD Officers for a subject who was refusing to exit his vehicle and be taken in custody on a detainer in the area of 223rd and Morrison in Gresham. Parole and Probation Officers deployed pepper spray on the subject who continued to not comply with their lawful commands. Upon GPD Officers arrival, a mini-stop stick was placed near the rear tires. The subject then fled the scene in the vehicle with a flat tire.

A MCSO Deputy located the vehicle at NE 17th and NE Kane and initiated a traffic stop. After initially stopping, the subject drove off into the Groves Apartments parking lot. The subject eventually stopped in the back of the lot at a dead end. When the deputy contacted the subject, the subject began swinging a sharp multi-purpose tool at him. The deputy attempted to deploy his Taser through the open driver's door when the subject put the vehicle in reverse striking the deputy. The deputy was able to successfully deploy his Taser and the subject was taken into custody by assisting GPD Officers and MCSO Deputies.

The subject will be charged with Attempt Assault on a Public Safety Officer and Attempt to Elude. He will be booked at the Multnomah County Detention Center.

Subject is identified as:
Bonaifacio Bermudez-Gonzales, 24, of Gresham.
