On Thursday, 04/13/2017 just after 3 pm, Search and Rescue Coordinators with the Multnomah and Hood River County Sheriff's Offices were informed that a team searching the Eagle Creek Recreational Area had discovered the body of 30 year old Susan Behrens of Gresham, OR. The discovery was made by the Hood River Cragrats, who were dispatched to the location after air assets from the Hood River County Sheriff's Office reported an unknown object in the in the area of a remote waterfall.
The Behrens family released the following statement;
"We know that Susan loved the outdoors and moved to Oregon to explore the beautiful Pacific Northwest. Susan was doing what she loved, and as a family we are proud of all that she accomplished in her life."
"We would like to take an opportunity to thank all of the search and rescue personnel from the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office and Hood River County Sheriff's Office, as well as the countless volunteers who have worked diligently over the last two days to find Susan."
Multnomah County Sheriff Mike Reese and Hood River County Sheriff Matt English extend their sincere condolences to the Behrens family and friends. They would also like to thank the volunteers who assisted in this effort.

On Wednesday, 04/12/2017 at approximately 9:15 am Search and Rescue Coordinators with the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office began conducting a search for 30 year old Susan Behrens of Gresham, after her vehicle was located late yesterday evening near the Eagle Creek Recreation Area of the Columbia River Gorge. This search is in coordination with detectives from the Gresham Police Department, who currently have an open missing persons investigation for Behrens.
A command post has been set up at the Eagle Creek Fish Hatchery parking area. Initial search efforts will include resources from Multnomah County Sheriff's Office Search and Rescue, the Hood River County Sheriff's Office, and Mountain Wave Search and Rescue.
MCSO will have a PIO on-site who will be providing updates as they are available.
